Paul Williams  worked for the  Metropolitan  Police in London for 26 years during which
time  he not only spent  several years in their  Criminal Record Office but was for over
8 years responsible for their Force Museums.
One of these Museums was the world famous  Black Museum which holds  crime exhibits
from notorious  criminal cases.  Whilst there he lectured,  with the Curator,  to police
officers,  members  of  the  Judiciary  and  eminent  people  including  members  of  the
British and foreign  Royal families.   Amongst the  many visitors was Albert Pierrepoint,
the last British Hangman.
Paul  says  “From  the  many  enquiries  we  received  it was  obvious people wanted to
know   about  particular   murders   especially   those  in  which  it  was  thought  their
ancestors  had  been  involved.    Police  reports   were  however  strictly  confidential
and could therefore not be released to the enquirer.

Many  of  the cases to which  they referred  had not occurred  in London  but  were in other parts  of the Country.
After leaving the  Metropolitan Police  I decided to start  Murder Files and now  receive enquiries  from  around the
World.   Obviously it  would be  impossible to  have  information on every single murder that  had occurred  but it is
very gratifying when we are able to put ‘meat on the skeleton’ as it were and add to the enquirer’s knowledge”.

As well as running Murder Files,   Paul Williams,   who  is  also a  Winston Churchill Fellow,  writes  articles  for books,
magazines and CD-ROMs as well as providing storylines for TV dramas.

His  first  and  second  CD-ROMs  The Ultimate Price – The Unlawful Killing  of  British  Police  Officers  1700 – 2000  is
available through this website.
